Sheri Jo's Yurt

    In June 2000 the High Meadows Fire jumped over the top of the Yurt. The fire burned on both sides, above and below the valley shown in the pictures. Trees burned on both sides of the road we just walked up and just a stone's throw (by an old man) on down from the entrance all that was left was charred tree stumps. A tree just 3 feet from the side of the Yurt was burning. But, Sheri and her friend managed to save everything you see above.

    In March of 2003 Colorado experienced it's worst snow storm in 90 years. The weight of the snow was just too much for the Yurt and it came crashing down. Sheri was not there at the time. As I write this Sheri and her friends are trying to save the contents and provide protection to avoid further damage.
